Reduce Software Development Costs through Partitioning

Duration: 1 hour
Registration: www.techonline.com

Description

The need for rich user interfaces, network connectivity, and an ever increasing feature set are making modern embedded systems much more difficult to develop and integrate.

To speed up development, companies often divide work among multiple development teams, each responsible for developing a separate software subsystem. Given these parallel development paths, performance issues invariably arise at the integration phase when, for the first time, various subsystems begin competing with one another for system resources. Subsystems that worked well in isolation now respond slowly, if at all. Additionally, these issues only emerge during integration and verification testing when the cost of software redesign and recoding is at its highest.

This session demonstrates how partitioning can be used to allocate guaranteed portions of CPU resource to each software subsystem. It shows how, at system integration, resource contention is greatly reduced as each subsystem is developed within the constraints of the integrated product. Finally, it demonstrates how partitioning greatly simplifies the system integration phase, reducing cost and risk while accelerating time to market.

Estimated Length: 1 hour, including Q & A.

Who should Attend:
This seminar is best suited for embedded software development managers, architects, and developers who deal with system architecture and system integration.
